SUMMARY:Why Snakes Are Cool
DESCRIPTION:Learn about Florida’s native snakes and get the chance to see some live animals up-close!\n\n\nSnakes play important ecological roles as both predator and prey\, yet they remain highly misunderstood animals. Florida is home to 46 native species of snakes\, and\, like all animals\, they present little danger when left alone. Herpetologist and environmental educator George L. Heinrich will dispel snake myths and misunderstandings to teach participants about why snakes are cool! We will explore Florida snake diversity\, natural history\, conservation\, and snake safety. \nAt the end of the program a selection of live snakes will be available for viewing and handling if participants choose to do so — and we hope that you will! \nThis program will be led by George L. Heinrich\, a field biologist and environmental educator specializing in Florida reptiles. His company\, Heinrich Ecological Services is based in St. Petersburg\, Florida and conducts wildlife surveys and research\, natural history programming\, and nature-based tours. George is currently the Executive Director of the Florida Turtle Conservation Trust. \n>>> REGISTER HERE <<<

SUMMARY:Hurricanes and Trees
DESCRIPTION:Come learn from a certified commercial arborist how to assess tree damage and how to best prepare in advance for future storms. \nHurricanes and tropical storms hit Florida almost every year\, often causing extensive damage to trees in your yard/property. But you can make your landscape more hurricane-resistant\, so that it’s less likely to suffer damage during a major storm. \nThe very active hurricane season of 2024 was particularly challenging for Tampa Bays’s urban forest. Learn from a certified commercial arborist how to assess tree damage from last summer and how to best prepare in advance for future storms. \n>>> GET TICKETS <<<
