Inspired by the Florida Master Naturalist program\, this youth program takes kids aged 10 to 13 on a journey through Florida’s ecosystems\, from the uplands\, through freshwater\, and to the coast. \nThis week-long exploration through Florida’s ecosystems will be taught by Brooker Creek Preserve staff\, Pinellas County & State Park Rangers\, and volunteers\, as a part of Pinellas County 4-H. \n\nOpen to anyone ages 10-13 (you do not have to be a 4-H member)\nCost is $100 for non 4-H members\, $75 for 4-H members – nonrefundable\nParticipants must bring a bag lunch\, snacks\, and a drink each day. We have a water filling station so reusable water bottles are highly encouraged.\nClosed toed shoes are required.\nMust wear appropriate outdoor clothing. These walks will focus on practicing skills needed for identification of local mushroom species as well as on the broader ecology associated. Be prepared to walk a long distance. We strongly suggest all hikers visit the restroom (located in the Classroom Building) before we begin as there are no facilities along the trail. \n\nGuided hikes are under a mile in length\, much of which is on unimproved\, uneven sandy trails.\n\n\nHikes take about two (2) hours to complete.\n\n\nPlease wear sturdy\, closed-toe shoes\, sneakers or boots.\n\n\nInsect repellent (bug spray) is strongly recommended in summer months.\n\n\nBring plenty of drinking water and a snack.\n\n\nA hat\, sunglasses\, and sunscreen are also recommended.\n\n\nPets are not permitted.\n\n\nNo smoking is allowed.\n\n\nTrained volunteers will guide the hike.
