SUMMARY:Birds of Brooker Hike
DESCRIPTION:Have you wondered what bird is singing in your backyard?\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDo you see and hear birds but don’t know who they are? If so\, join us for a Beginning Bird Hike to learn how to identify the county’s common birds as we meander along a one-mile trail. Registration is required. \nThis is a free hike\, however space is limited. Please be courteous and do not register unless you plan to attend and cancel your reservation if you can no longer attend. \nGuided Hike Information \nVolunteer Hike Guides will meet participants outside the Exhibit Hall 10 minutes before the scheduled start time. We strongly suggest all hikers visit the restroom (located in the Classroom Building) before we begin as there are no facilities along the trail. \n\nGuided hikes are under a mile in length\, much of which is on unimproved\, uneven sandy trails.\n\n\nHikes take about two (2) hours to complete.\n\n\nPlease wear sturdy\, closed-toe shoes\, sneakers or boots.\n\n\nInsect repellent (bug spray) is strongly recommended in summer months.\n\n\nBring plenty of drinking water and a snack.\n\n\nA hat\, sunglasses\, and sunscreen are also recommended.\n\n\nPets are not permitted.\n\n\nNo smoking is allowed.\n\n\nTrained volunteers will guide the hike.\n\nREGISTER HERE

DESCRIPTION:Come and take a walk with two retired music teachers who love Brooker Creek and jazz.\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout this event\n\n\nWe will hear 12 RECORDED excerpts (from 2-4 minutes each) from various jazz styles that refer to the wonderful natural things we see at Brooker. We will walk about a mile and stop and listen as we enjoy the beauty around us. DESCRIPTION:Archaeology Day\nHike & Site Visit \n\n\n\nCelebrate Florida Archaeology Month with a guided hike to an active archaeological dig-site on Weedon Island.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nLed by professional archaeologists with the Florida Public Archaeology Network and the Alliance for Weedon Island Archaeological Research and Education\, hike to an active archaeological dig-site on Weeden Island. Attendees will learn about the early peoples that inhabited Weedon Island thousands of years ago\, and the ongoing archaeological research being done to better understand these ancient cultures. This hike is recommended for adults and youth ages 12+. Participants should be prepared for a 2 mile hike on uneven terrain. \nThis hike will be part of our Archaeology Day to celebrate Florida Archaeology Month.
