DESCRIPTION:This hike will take place on the Friends Trail\, at the end of Lora Lane. This hike cannot be accessed at the main campus. \nEnjoy the Preserve on a trail less travelled–The Friends Trail\, located at the end of Lora Lane off Keystone. The guides and hikers will drive themselves to the location; do not come to the main Preserve campus. Join us for this opportunity to hike with Alexa on one of our lesser known trails to bird watch! \nRead this important Hike Information: \nHikers should arrive at the trailhead at the dead end of Lora Lane\, 10 minutes before the scheduled start time. Lora Lane is 1/2 mile west of Brooker Entrance on Keystone. You travel one mile on Lora Lane until the road ends\, and park. \nYou may use a mapping app: Lora Lane\, Tarpon Springs \n\nThis is a bird watching walk\, you will not be hiking the entire trail.\nThere are no restroom facilities on site. \nHike takes about two (2) hours to complete.\nPlease wear sturdy\, closed-toe shoes\, sneakers or boots.\nInsect repellent (bug spray) is strongly recommended in summer months.\nBring plenty of drinking water and a snack.\nA hat\, sunglasses\, sunscreen and a walking stick are also recommended.\nPets are not permitted.\nNo smoking is allowed.\nTrained volunteers will guide the hike.\nAn Equal Opportunity Institution\n\n\n.This is a free hike\, however space is limited. DESCRIPTION:Tampa Bay Watch is offering high school students an opportunity to earn community service hours this summer. The program is scheduled to take place on Wednesday mornings 9 AM – 12 PM from June 7 – July 19 at our facility in Tierra Verde with a maximum of fifteen volunteers per project. The minimum age to participate is 15 years old. Examples of projects include assisting with native plantings\, oyster shell recycling\, cleaning fishing line\, and coastal cleanups. \nInterested students should email rarndt@tampabaywatch.org with a cell phone number and the dates they’d like to participate.

This hike has been timed to coincide with a low tide at the Preserve so participants will have the best chance for viewing wading birds and other wildlife that come to forage on the tidal flats at this time. \nAttendees will meet inside the Cultural and Natural History Center for a brief introduction to highlight the seasonal features of the Preserve\, as well as specific wildlife behaviors\, that will help participants capture the natural beauty of the area. DESCRIPTION:Join us for a guided tour of the trails and boardwalks of the Weedon Island Preserve. \n\n\nExplore the mangrove and upland ecosystems of Weedon Island on this guided hike of the Preserve. Learn about the coastal environment\, native wildlife\, and early history of the island. This tour is for adults and youth ages 10 and up. Youth must be supervised by an adult for the full duration of the program. \nAttendees will meet inside the Cultural and Natural History Center for a short introduction before departing for the trails. The total hike length may be up to two miles. This hike may traverse uneven\, natural paths or boardwalks so please prepare accordingly. Afterwards\, attendees will return to the Center to complete an evaluation of the hike and explore the museum’s exhibits. \n>>> REGISTER HERE

DESCRIPTION:A week-long exploration through Florida’s ecosystems for young naturalists ages 10 to 13! \n\n\nCalling all young naturalists! The Florida Youth Naturalist Program is for young nature enthusiasts interested in learning more about Florida’s environment. Inspired by the Florida Master Naturalist program\, this youth program takes kids aged 10 to 13 on a journey through Florida’s ecosystems\, from the uplands\, through freshwater\, and to the coast. \nThis week-long exploration through Florida’s ecosystems will be taught by Brooker Creek Preserve staff\, Pinellas County & State Park Rangers\, and volunteers\, as a part of Pinellas County 4-H. \n\nOpen to anyone ages 10-13 (you do not have to be a 4-H member)\nCost is $100 for non 4-H members\, $75 for 4-H members – nonrefundable\nParticipants must bring a bag lunch\, snacks\, and a drink each day. We have a water filling station so reusable water bottles are highly encouraged.\nClosed toed shoes are required.\nMust wear appropriate outdoor clothing. Please also bring a hat\, sunglasses\, sunscreen\, and bug spray for days we will be hiking outside (a detailed schedule will be provided prior to the event).\nNo before and after care available\n\nLocations:  \n\nMonday\, June 26 to Thursday\, June 29 from 9AM to 3PM daily: Brooker Creek Environmental Education Center Classroom\nFriday\, June 30 from 9AM to 3PM: Honeymoon Island State Park (more details will be sent about this day)\nParent/guardian must drop off and pick up children from daily locations.\n\nRegistration:  \nThis is a 2-part registration process.
