Please note that it takes about 10 minutes to drive from the preserve entrance (Keystone Rd.) to the parking lot\, and there is a 2-5 minute walk from the parking lot to the Education Center. We strongly suggest all hikers visit the restroom before you begin as there are no facilities along the trail. \n

DESCRIPTION:The City is ready for us to come back and help in the dunes!  There have been several SPB Beach Cleanups\, but they asked people to stay off the dunes.  Dune Savers will start back by just cleaning trash and debris from the dunes at Upham Beach.  Hopefully most of the invasive plants didn’t survive the storms! \nWe will meet in the parking lot by the Paradise Grille\, 6850 Beach Plaza\, St. Pete Beach 33706 at 7:30 am – 8:30 am. \nPlease bring refillable water bottles\, wear gloves and closed-toed shoes.  There will be buckets for trash and the City is supplying large totters. \nThank you all and can’t wait to see you Friday morning. \nQuestions\, please contact Deb Rothenberger

DESCRIPTION:Learn how to sort\, identify\, and clean artifacts and other material from real archaeological sites! \n\nAges 12+\n\n\n\nJoin us in the Lab for a hands-on experience in archaeological discovery! Led by professional archaeologists from the Florida Public Archaeology Network (FPAN)\, this volunteer lab gives you the chance to sort\, clean\, and identify real artifacts uncovered at the Weedon Island Preserve. You’ll learn how archaeologists process materials for study and contribute to ongoing research about the people who once lived in this coastal region. No experience is necessary — just curiosity and a willingness to get your hands dirty! \nWho Can Participate:\nThis lab is open to adults and youth ages 12 and up.
