DESCRIPTION:Join Dave Perkey\, Jan Allyn\, and other nature lovers on Sunday\, August 24th at this 596-acre peninsular park for a photography walk. Bring your camera or phone or just come along to stroll\, learn and enjoy! \nPlease RSVP to jallyn727@gmail.com with your name\, number in your party\, and a cell phone number where you can be reached in case of event cancellation. \nThe 596-acre park protects valuable coastal habitat and ecological communities that include mangrove forests\, salt marshes\, freshwater marshes\, coastal hammocks\, and pine flatwoods. Visitors can take a hike on nature trails and boardwalks and see gopher tortoises\, zebra swallowtail butterflies\, and even bobcats. They can also check out the shallow fresh water ponds that provide habitat for aquatic plants and animals. Live oaks and other hardwood trees often grow near these wetlands\, where red-shouldered hawks and bald eagles are sometimes seen. DESCRIPTION:As our part of an agreement between Port Tampa Bay and the Sierra Club to manage the Westshore Audubon Sanctuary\, we are collaborating on a cleanup on September 6\, Saturday\, meeting at 9 a.m. and working until 11 that morning to remove trash and debris from the area on the north side of San Jose Street. Dress in walk-in-the-water closed-toe shoes and long pants and long-sleeved shirts. DESCRIPTION:Join us for an educational guided walking tour through Werner Boyce Salt Springs Park and help support Let’s Walk Florida. \nJoin us to walk and learn! \nAn educational guided nature walk will be led by Dr. Megan Moore\, the UF/IFAS Extension Florida Sea Grant Agent for Pasco County. You will learn about mangrove identification\, coastal plants\, oysters\, and the ecosystem benefits these systems provide. \nWe are teaming up with the UF/IFAS Extension Family and Consumer Sciences agent to support the Let’s Walk Florida Program! You are welcome to join us just for a fun educational day or to join the Lets Walk Florida Group! \nLet’s Walk\, Florida! Is a six-week walking program designed to encourage a physically active lifestyle. Walk anywhere on your own time\, but also join the optional structured group walks to not just earn activity minutes\, but to learn about our ecosystems.
