SUMMARY:Dune Savers Work Day
DESCRIPTION:The City is ready for us to come back and help in the dunes!  There have been several SPB Beach Cleanups\, but they asked people to stay off the dunes.  Dune Savers will start back by just cleaning trash and debris from the dunes at Upham Beach.  Hopefully most of the invasive plants didn’t survive the storms! \nWe will meet in the parking lot by the Paradise Grille\, 6850 Beach Plaza\, St. Pete Beach 33706 at 7:30 am – 8:30 am. \nPlease bring refillable water bottles\, wear gloves and closed-toed shoes.  There will be buckets for trash and the City is supplying large totters. \nThank you all and can’t wait to see you Friday morning. \nQuestions\, please contact Deb Rothenberger

SUMMARY:Native Plant Walk: Upper Tampa Bay Park
DESCRIPTION:Join Dave Perkey\, Jan Allyn\, and other nature lovers on Sunday\, August 24th at this 596-acre peninsular park for a photography walk. Bring your camera or phone or just come along to stroll\, learn and enjoy! \nPlease RSVP to jallyn727@gmail.com with your name\, number in your party\, and a cell phone number where you can be reached in case of event cancellation. \nThe 596-acre park protects valuable coastal habitat and ecological communities that include mangrove forests\, salt marshes\, freshwater marshes\, coastal hammocks\, and pine flatwoods. Visitors can take a hike on nature trails and boardwalks and see gopher tortoises\, zebra swallowtail butterflies\, and even bobcats. They can also check out the shallow fresh water ponds that provide habitat for aquatic plants and animals. Live oaks and other hardwood trees often grow near these wetlands\, where red-shouldered hawks and bald eagles are sometimes seen. SUMMARY:Clean Up the Tampa Audubon Sanctuary
DESCRIPTION:As our part of an agreement between Port Tampa Bay and the Sierra Club to manage the Westshore Audubon Sanctuary\, we are collaborating on a cleanup on September 6\, Saturday\, meeting at 9 a.m. and working until 11 that morning to remove trash and debris from the area on the north side of San Jose Street. Dress in walk-in-the-water closed-toe shoes and long pants and long-sleeved shirts. Let Todd Randolph of the Tampa Bay Sierra Club know you will come\, please toddrrandolph@gmail.com.\n\nThe Westshore Sanctuary offers natural shoreline habitat\, with mangroves\, cordgrass\, sandbars\, oyster beds\, and mudflats. Mangrove crabs\, small fish\, and night herons are resident. It remains a special\, unchanged\, natural shoreline along the west shore of Tampa’s Interbay Peninsula.
