SUMMARY:Pets and Plants
DESCRIPTION:Creating a pet-friendly garden can sometimes be a challenge in our homes and landscapes. We love our plants and our pets\, but sometimes they don’t mix. We will explore the various plants that we keep in our homes and our landscapes\, some of which may cause potential harm to our non-human family members. Many popular plants contain toxins that can cause mild irritation or be potentially life threatening. \nJoin us for this informative seminar as we opt for plants known to be safe for pets\, placement of those plants\, and having rooms/outdoor areas dedicated to plants ‘off limits’ to our pets. Join us as the speaker balances a love of plants with a safe environmental awareness for our pets. \n>>> GET TICKETS <<<

SUMMARY:Using Native Plants in your Landscape
DESCRIPTION:Come learn more with our speaker\, who is a member of the Nature Coast Native Plant Society and is a supporter of using native plants. \nNative plants are well adapted to local environmental conditions and offer numerous benefits. They support local wildlife\, reduce maintenance\, provide erosion control\, air quality improvement and improve soil health. Native plants are often drought-tolerant and require less water than non-native species\, reducing costs. Native plants support a wider range of species compared to non-native plants\, promoting biodiversity and contributing to the overall health of natural communities. \nOur speaker is a member of Nature Coast Native Plant Society and an enthusiastic supporter of using native plants in home landscape. \n>>> GET TICKETS <<<

SUMMARY:Plant This\, Not That!
DESCRIPTION:Plant This\, Not That!\nAlternatives to Common Invasive Plants \nInvasive plants are non-native plants that have been introduced to the state (either intentionally or unintentionally) and have the potential to cause harm to the environment\, economy\, or human health. These plants often outcompete native species\, disrupting natural ecosystems and causing various problems. \nMany common landscape plants in central Florida are actually invasive species that are shared between unknowing home gardeners and sold commercially (because they may not be a problem elsewhere)\, adding to their spread. \nCome and learn about these common invasive plant species to avoid\, and which species should be used in your home landscape instead! \n\n>> GET TICKETS <<< \n\n \nWhat you do in your landscape matters. From the fertilizers you apply to the water you use\, your gardening choices can have an impact on land\, water\, wildlife\, and the overall well-being of Florida’s residents. \nThe Florida-Friendly Landscaping™ (FFL) Program is here to help you learn how to have healthy and beautiful landscapes that protect Florida’s natural resources by following nine science-based principles: \n\nRight Plant\, Right Place\nWater Efficiently\nFertilize Appropriately\nMulch\nAttract Wildlife\nManage Yard Pests Responsibly\nRecycle Yard Waste\nReduce Stormwater Runoff\nProtect the Waterfront\n\nA Florida-Friendly landscape can be designed to look the way you want\, fit the aesthetics of your community\, and suit your lifestyle\, while being environmentally sustainable. Join us to learn how! \nThis lecture is presented by Kate Kaste\, UF/IFAS Extension Pasco County\, FFL Program Manager. \n>>> GET TICKETS <<<
