Identification of Florida Turtles

January 25, 2020 @ 10:30 am - 12:00 pm

Free

Have you ever watched turtles basking on a log or nesting along a trail and wondered which species you were observing? Turtles are visible elements in many ecosystems and, for the most part, can be easily identified. Florida’s wide variety of habitats support 28 of the 62 (45.2%) species known to occur in the United States, the most turtle-rich country. Significant habitat diversity and species richness make Florida a chelonian hotspot and critical to the conservation of many species. Attendees will learn basic identification techniques that will enhance their ventures into the field.

Recommended for adults and youth ages 8 and up.
