Getting Wild with Turkey

November 4, 2021 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm
Free
  • « Mushroom Identification Nature Hike
  • Mushroom Identification Nature Hike »

Turkey may surface in your mind this November as a menu item, but have you ever observed a wild turkey in nature? Did you see a male or a female turkey? If so, how did you tell the difference? For a large bird that is not known for its flying ability, nor respected for its intelligence, how does the Wild Turkey survive? Over years, many of us have lost appreciation for this incredible bird. If ol’ Ben had his way, the turkey would be our national emblem and not the scavenging & thieving bald eagle (as Ben Franklin described them). Take a trot with us as we talk with Sensing Nature wildlife biologist, Jeanne Murphy on why we should give the turkey its well-deserved appreciation.
