Flatwoods in the Fall
October 7, 2021 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm
FreeFlorida is known for its endless miles of shoreline, coastal communities, and fabulous freshwater habitats seemingly within walking distance from anywhere in the state. However, what about our dry upland communities? And specifically, our flat expansive communities dotted with our beloved pine trees, flowering grasses, and wildflowers that erupt only after a summertime fire. That’s right, we are exploring our wonderful pine flatwoods at the peak of their fall fashion season. If we had our way, “Flatwoods in the Fall” would be Florida’s official season transitioning summer into winter. Join us for a talk with Sensing Nature ecologist, Brian Lane as he explores some of his favorite Florida Flatwoods and encourages you to make your new favorite season — Flatwoods in the Fall!
