$20Clearwater Community Gardens Celebrates Gardening
at 5th Annual Summer Brunch, Sunday August 18th
Clearwater, FL – Clearwater Community Gardens announces the 5th Annual Summer Brunch Fundraiser at the Historic Fort Harrison. Tickets for the brunch are $20, with all funds collected going to the Community Gardens. The event will begin at 11:00am in the Fort Harrison’s Crystal Ballroom and will end by 1:30pm.
“We will be celebrating our success over the past four years while raising funds for a second shelter and rainwater system” said Howard Warshauer, the founder and President of Clearwater Community Gardens, a local 501c3 Non profit organization. “We do this while we enjoy the excellent food from the Ft. Harrison staff and chefs, the camaraderie of our supporters, wonderful entertainment and much more.” This year’s theme is “Edible Flowers and Landscape”. We hope to inform guests how they can enjoy the beauty and nourishment of gardening from their own property, said Warshauer. We will also focus on the new State Law that allows residents to grow vegetables, herbs and flowers to their own front yard.
Included in the event will be a raffle of many garden and gardening items, gift cards to some of Downtown Clearwater’s shops, restaurants, and theaters. All proceeds will benefit the Community Garden in the Gateway neighborhood just outside of downtown Clearwater. Amanda Thompson, Clearwater’s new CRA director, will inform guests about all the changes taking place in downtown Clearwater.
In its first four full years of operation, the Community Garden has expanded to 50 family plots, a rainwater system, a shelter, 600 Sq Ft Pollinator Garden, 3 Bee Colonies and many fruit and flowering trees. They regularly host potluck dinners and educational programs for the community. The gardens have been a positive inspiration for the Gateway neighborhood.
Tickets can be purchased at www.eventbrite.com/e/62263611137
