Jan. 20, Dolphin Family Values, 5:45 p.m. The Florida Aquarium continues its Evening Tide Talks with a presentation by Dr. Randy Wells, coordinator of the world's longest-running dolphin research program. For information and reservations, call 813-273-4189.

Jan. 21, Lost Tribes of Manatee 9:30 a.m. to noon. The first of four programs presented by Around the Bend Nature Tours at Madira Bickel Mound. Programs are scheduled on Fridays and Saturdays through January and February at Emerson Point Temple Mount, Camp Ucita at DeSoto National Memorial and the South Florida Museum's Montague Tallant Collection. Jan. 24, Crystal Springs Preserve Habitat Tour, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Snorkel the year-round 72-degree water and then tour the preserve by canoe with an educator from the Florida Aquarium. For information or reservations, call 813-273-4000.

And for the butterfly enthusiast, the monarch butterfly migration nears its peak along Florida's Gulf coast in October.

Starting in February, University of of Florida Master Naturalist Freshwater Wetlands Program at the Pinellas County Extension Service. Meet on select Mondays and Fridays for 40 hours including indoor learning and regional field trips with an opportunity to kayak. Prepare to learn about marshes, swamps, rivers, lakes, and springs including their plant and wildlife inhabitants. Join Joan and Ted Miller of Nature's Lore Photography as they provide helpful hints and tips that will help even novice photographers capture that "perfect shot," including lighting, image composition and equipment selection. Feb. 19, Palmetto Discovery, 10:30 a.m. to noon. The familiar saw palmetto does more than trip hikers with its creeping stems and scratch homeowners with its saw-toothed stalks. It provides shelter and food to a grand range of insects and other small critters. Come and discover the complexity of this commonplace plant with an indoor presentation and an outdoor exploration of the fascinating world of the palmetto by Mark and Nancy Deyrup of the Archbold Biological Station.
