Estuary Academy Returns

Originally created as the "citizen's component" to the Bay Area Scientific Information Symposium #4 last year, Estuary Academy was so well received that it's been scheduled again from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, September 25, at the Weedon Island Preserve.

New programs are designed to appeal to last year's participants as well as newcomers with morning sessions featuring presentations by well-known speakers on topics ranging from sea turtles to beach-nesting birds. The hands-on workshops scheduled for the afternoon include building underwater remoteoperated vehicles, searching for benthic creatures and Florida-friendly landscaping.

For more information, visit the Tampa Bay Estuary Program at www.tbep.org or call Nanette Holland at 727-893-2765. Space is limited and early reservations are recommended.
