Marine Quest
, Florida's premier family-oriented marine science expo, returns on April 30 at the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission's Fish and Wildlife Research Institute (FWRI) headquarters in downtown St. Petersburg. The St. Petersburg Science Festival makes its debut as part of Marine Quest. Mote Marine Laboratory and Aquarium invites you to celebrate the science of the sea during "Party on the Pass" at 6 p.m. on Saturday, April 16, 2011, in the Mote Aquarium courtyard. This casual-dress party includes great food and drinks, auctions and plenty of fun. Party on the Pass proceeds will support Mote's dolphin, whale and sea turtle hospitals. Tickets are $75 per person which includes beer, wine and food stations provided by the Sarasota-Manatee Originals. Silent and live auctions will be featured and all event proceeds benefit Mote's ongoing care and rehabilitation of sick, injured or stranded dolphins, whales and sea turtles. Casual attire. Apr 16, 8:30am-12pm, Keep Hillsborough County Beautiful coordinates the local efforts in project efforts, which include beautification, community improvement initiatives, recycling activities, and litter removal along roads, waterways, and in parks. Apr 16, Tampa Bay Estuary Program, Give a Day Blitz. Volunteers needed in each of these counties: Hillsborough County: We'll be doing salt marsh and upland plantings at two south county sites starting at 8:30 a.m.  along Cockroach Bay Road and then moving to the Lost River Preserve on Gulf City Road. Transportation will be provided between sites. After the planting, celebrate the formal dedication of the new 70-acre Lost River Preserve along with numerous officials and public dignitaries. A picnic lunch will follow; age limit 10 and up. Pinellas County:  Fort De Soto Park is where we'll be gathering at 9:30 a.m. to plant beach dune sunflowers and sea oats near the historic fort. Enjoy a picnic lunch at the beach afterwards; open to all ages. Plants have generously been provided by Friends of Fort De Soto Park. Manatee County: Emerson Point Preserve is where we'll battle exotic invasives starting at 8:30 a.m. You'll be collecting seeds, removing vines from native plants, and digging up plant roots.We'll also be planting native plants as well as a variety of trees in the coastal uplands and along the shoreline of the Manatee River. Afterwards, we'll enjoy a relaxing picnic on the river, celebrating the day's hard work.  Age limit 6 and up. All volunteers will receive lunch and a Tampa Bay Estuary Program 20th Anniversary commemorative poster!  Children must be accompanied by an adult. April 21, 7-8pm, Power Dynamics and Urban Construction at Teotihuacan, Mexico. Weedon Island Preserve, 1800 Weedon Drive N.E., St. Petersburg. Teotihuacan, the capital city of a regional state in Central Mexico from A.D. 150-650, was characterized by its monumental civic-ceremonial architecture and dense settlement.  From the third century A.D. onward, most of the city's 100,000 residents lived in walled residential compounds consisting of multiple courtyard units, resulting in a highly distinct urban landscape. Despite three decades of extensive research, the study of political organization at Teotihuacan has produced contradictory views of state-subject relationships.  Focusing on labor and material resources employed for urban construction, Dr. Tatsuya Murakami, USF,  discusses sociopolitical changes at Teotihuacan and how different social segments, including dominant elites, intermediate elites, and commoners, articulated with one another. Apr 23, 10am-5pm, The 2011 Earth Day Tampa Bay is being organized by the Tampa Bay Sierra Club and the University of South Florida's Office of Sustainability. Our theme this year, "pride of place," is intended to promote our community's pride in our local environments. The event will take place at the USF Botanical Gardens (one block north of the corner of Fowler Ave. & Bruce B. Downs Blvd.). May 7, 8am, Babcock Ranch and Venice Rookery. Meet at McDonalds on Rte 60 near I-75. We will take a swamp buggy ride around a working ranch looking for wildlife such as wild pigs, Florida Cracker Cattle, panthers and Sandhill cranes. The ride costs $19.95 for adults and $12.95 for Kids (plus sales tax). The price is less if we have a group of 20 or more, so bring your family and friends. This is a great trip for kids. 1. Se requiere que presente identificación con foto. No importa qué clase de identificación; sólo se requiere la foto y nombre completo. Sin identificación con foto no puede asistir a la clase y tendrá que pagar para volverse a inscribir.

2. El nombre que use para inscribirse debe ser el mismo nombre de su identificación con foto. Por ejemplo: José Antonio Rivera Alvarez, tiene que decir "Jose Antonio" en la línea del nombre y Rivera Alvarez en la línea del apellido. Debe ser el mismo nombre completo como se muestra en la identifiación con foto que presente.

3. Por favor llegue 30 minutos antes del inicio de la clase. La clase comenzará a la hora pautada. Si se retrasa, puede ser que se le niegue la entrada a la clase y tendrá que pagar para volverse a inscribir.

4. Escriba el nombre de la empresa a través de la inscripción por internet. Esto acelerará el proceso de verificación.
