Fisheries feature hits the mark

Vicki and Mary:

I want you to know how many people appreciated the special insert on fisheries in the January edition of Bay Soundings. You were able to take an enormous amount of information and turn it into a series that was interesting and easy to read, without losing any of the important facts. As scientists, we know how difficult it can be to speak to an audience as diverse as the people reading Bay Soundings. Your stories were interesting to lay readers while still conveying the thorough, accurate and complete information scientists expect.

We look forward to working with you in the future.

Correction

The chart that ran with the Winter 2009 story on holistic fish models was labeled incorrectly. The solid lines are the trends predicted by the Ecosim model while the dots are observed fish populations.

Praise for Bay Soundings

I want to take a moment to let you all know how much the SWIM staff has enjoyed and profited from reading Bay Soundings over the years. Bay Soundings has always provided the environmental community with timely and important stories. With crisp, no-nonsense writing, the articles address important issues concerning the bay, providing the reader with a wealth of information. Readers are kept abreast of these issues and actions being taken to address them.

Keeping citizens and elected officials informed is critically important to the management and future of the bay. Thanks to the skill of your writers, Bay Soundings' articles are always fact-filled, yet never stuffy or boring — and that’s no easy task when covering scientific and management topics. We tip our collective hats to you. Keep up the good work!
